Just bought one. Oakes mfg. oakes north dakota. 16 hp onan twin. 2 belt driven hydraulic pumps. about 1750 lbs. with bucket. I am having a hard time finding information on this skid steer. any info you have would be appreciated. I did get an owners manual with it but it is at my brothers house hope this helps Thanks Gary

The tractor/skid steer argument has been beaten to death. If you work on lawns, buy a tractor. If you move a lot of dirt, get a skid steer because it'll bury a tractor 3 ways to Sunday when it comes to moving large quantities of material. The closest Boxer dealer is Nashville TN 3 hr drive, and I would not hesitate driving that far if I was going to purchase a mini skid steer. I just figured out It was easier to rent for the low number of hours I actually would log on a machine should I have purchased one ; however the Boxer is the way to go if I were to purchase a Mini skid steer Skid steers and CTLs are used for landscaping but fullsized trackloaders haven't been used for years. There are a few old trackloaders around but they are not used commecially. A dump truck is used to move material around a site even if its only a hundred feet your moving 12 yards at a time.
That truck saw crazy abuse and put food on the table for years. However it would have to be a smaller skid steer and a light trailer for me to regularly haul with a 1/2ton. I see guys who haul pretty heavy antique tractors around here with trucks and trailers that make ya cringe :hammerhead: But they also go about 30mph tops too..

When I take it to my parent's home which is all lawn, I follow a few steps. Never use a wheeled loader on a wet or very dry lawn, wet soil ruts and dry grass will be flattened and die from the weight of the loader. Never ran a skid steer but I have loaded plenty of equipment (excavators, backhoes, dozers, pavers). If you load forward, your bucket will act as added weight/leverage to teeter sooner but if you load in reverse, your bucket will prevent you from flipping over if positioned right.
