I am not the best welder around but have done 2 new edges on buckets. And have had them work fine. If front edge of bucket is worn thin cut back a little to get to good metal then clamp it and tack weld every 6" or so along edge. Then weld it up top and bottom. I've got a problem that I'm a bit unsure how to "fix". The previous owner of the 763 I just bought routinely used the bucket without a bolt-on cutting edge. The result of that is that the front lower edge of the bucket is rounded upward and worn back almost an inch.
