Hello, I have a John Deere 270 series 2 skidloader. My problem is the parking brake keeps activating on its own bringing the machine to a screeching halt. I'm at my wits end, I've bypassed the operator presence (seat switch) bypassed the seatbelt switch and replaced the parking brake switch and the problem still persists. If I moved the controls to a neutral position, the grinding would stop, then I needed to press the parking brake switch back off (sometimes I needed to press it on and off again) then it would seem to work again. A few times the seat belt light came on as if the seat belt wasn't being used, but it was.
I've jumped out both the seat belt switch and the seat switch and replaced the fuse but still can't get the light to go off or the brakes to disengage. I've tested all switches and they are all good. Hydraulic magnetic coil is new.
The steering adjustments on the 270 series are complex. You need to read the factory service manual and follow it. You need to block the machine up on 6x6 wood blocks, raise the ROPS and put the seat down with a rachet strap and then put on the seatbelt and start it from a ladder from the back.
The seat switch does not seem to be the problem, as it works correctly when you remove weight from it, and the seat light, lights up, vs only the parking brake light when the machine stops while underway.
First problem is the foot controls, what is the proper way to activate? the lever near your right leg doesn't seem to be connected to anything.
