I am looking at heads and would like some input. I have a larger forestry machine with a Fecon head (which is admittedly older) and have done a demo with an FAE head. Fecon is going to bring me a skid steer head to demo. I was planning to go.

Gudday all, I am looking for advice on skid steer tree mulching attachment. Due to the hills I will be working on I have eliminated fitting a mulcher onto my digger and looking at the skid steer method. I am going to look at a Mustang . here’s specific one. iowa farmer. Lots of forest. I do a ton with forestry (mulching, sheers, spade, tree puller). I also do a lot with minor dirt work, augers, fencing, etc. I’d call my skid steer needs: >50% forestry. Do too many other things to need a dedicated machine. Will run Vail mulcher which is amazing. If your planning on becoming a landclearing contractor then buy a dedicated machine, but be very careful about what you choose. Loftness head are IMHO are the most unproductive mulcher heads I've used and the teeth are the most expensive. Using a any CTL to drive a mulching head is a comprise and will never be as productive a dedicated tractor. There is a lot of mulching going on here for fire protection. Those big stand alone tracked mulching machines look like expensive money pits. Those full width skid steer mounted ones look like they would be hard on the machine. The mulchers on excavators seem like the way to go as long as the head is sized for the flow and cooling capacity .
I have a TL150 & are considering a mulching head attachment for it. Haven't looked at the specs for the mulching head regarding the hydraulic psi or flow , but was looking for advise about which attachment works best on the skid steers. Have about 50 acres of thickets/underbrush I was wanting to get done before fall.
Then I found the brush cutters that mount on the front of the skid steers. Does anyone have one and how well do u like it. Its not as grand as the mulching heads but the work we do we just need to get the material on the ground it doesnt have to be mulched. I like this one from www.brushmonster.com it claims to cut up to 5" trees. What do you .
There is a hydraulic kit for the John Deere 843L and L2 wheel hot saw rubber tire bunchers to make them better suited to run mulching heads. The L2 has around 270hp & heavier compared to a 843J that was around 225hp. L2s 270hp plus alternate hydraulic pump was matched to a Fecon 86 inch mulching head Guys-I have a new Cat 299D2 XHP I bought for mulching. I am looking at heads and would like some input.
