I'm looking for a recommendation for a used Mini Excavator for this project. I . I have never operated one before but, I drive truck for a living and have operated tractors and forklifts. I have a Kubota M4000 tractor now.
Any one have any thoughts on Kubota's KX 71 series minis. I plan to use it around the house, ditching, maybe some tree stump removals (no hurry at all, been doing it with a little Kubota BX25), digging out some banks for fill, making trails in the woods, stuff along that lines. We are looking at mini excavators for soil sampling jobs in vineyards. Does anyone have any opinions? Just need to dig down usually no more than 6' , but vine rows can be 5' apart so the unit needs to be narrow at times. Also the U17 only weighs 3703 pounds so it would trailer easily. I'm getting quotes on a new one (U27-4R2) with a cab for trenching work (residential water/sewer lines) for a working depth of 3-7 feet. Kubota is my first choice primarily due to dealer network.
