It's powerful and fast and its controls are VERY smooth. There really isn't a good comparison of this machine to the other tracked machines out there -- in a word, it's simply more refined. I owned a 257B for 2 and a half years and it was a pretty good machine. The weak point on them is the idler wheels on the under carriage. If your using something heavy on the front mine seemed to wreck bearings all the time. The only other problem I had was the head gasket.

Need help deciding between two skid steers. Looking at a CAT '09 252B or a Deere '09 328. Both are like new with 100 hrs. Both have cab, heat, and hand controls. Would be used to move snow, seed, and remove fence and brush. They are priced equally. The Deere has 300lbs more operating capacity.
The rest of the tracked machines by Cat are good machines if that's what you're looking for. However, they are more maintenance intensive when compared to other brands with rigid undercarriages vs. the suspended carriage.
